Beautiful Greys!!!

Hi everyone,
Jen here, thought I'd better get my act together & add some more info for you all to share. Just had some time off at home to recharge the batteries & try to work out what project I'm going to tackle next. I have so many things I want to make & never seem to have enough hours!!!

We do have some beautiful new fabrics in though at Picture Patchwork, that I should make mention of.

There is a lovely range called Two to Tango by Exclusive Quilters. This entails beautiful designs in daisies, butterflies, spots & stripes. The colours are deep reds, black, grey & white.
There are 12 designs to choose from .

We also have some Riley Blake grey, black & whites that you could easily mix in with. These tend to be slightley smaller prints, very sweet.
Another range in is the Dear Stella soft creams, whites, lemons & once again greys.
It seems that grey fabric was very hard to find for awhile but now we have a lovely range in our store & it looks lovely in a baby quilt, so soft & suitable for a boy or girl!

Also available in the Dear Stella designs are blues, white & aquas.

All these fabric retail for $22.00 per metre.

Cynthia Martin has designed a beaut new bag called Ma Belle Fleur Sac (My Lovely Flower Bag) & has used the Dear Stella  range in the soft grey & lemon tones to make a sample up in. It looks great, pop in & check it out.
Pattern available for $16.95

TILDA IS HERE!

So it seems like I have had my head in the sand, because while we were setting up for the craft and quilt show I was introduced for the first time to "Tilda".  It became apparent quite quickly as we started trading on Friday and thoughout the weekend that I was a bit of a loner, as people came in exclaiming "oh, you have Tilda! I have only seen it online!" or "Real Tilda fabric, it is even more beautiful in real life".

We have fabric pieces available that measure 50 x 70 cm, and lots of the bits and pieces, including pretty brads, (looks like a button on the front with a split pin back) a large range of tins that come in 3 sizes and did i mention the gorgeous fabric squares?

We have most of the stock at Fresh Fabric, our Deloraine store, but if you are unable to get into the store  feel free to give us a ring on 03 63623728, or drop us an email enquiries@freshfabric.com.au

Best Friends Quilt

Hi, Janet here. Thought it was about time I introduced myself.  I mostly work at our Deloraine store, Fresh Fabric, and from time to time take the trip to Latrobe to work a day or two at Picture Patchwork.

I wasn't sure what to share with you for my first entry, but Jennie suggested our "Best Friends" quilt, which we put together just in time to take to the Melbourne Craft and Quilt fair in 2011. The pattern is by the very clever Clare Horsman from Clares Place. (You can read all about Clare in the latest Australian Homespun magazine, or go to her website http://www.claresplace.com.au/), and the fabric range is "Happier" by Riley Blake Designs.

The centre panel of the quilt is and stitched in perle no. 5 thread, the owl appliques can be hand or machine stitched, and the rest of the quilt was machine sewn.  We also used a quilt-as-you-go technique to finish the quilt.

We have patterns available for $14.95 and kits for $125, which include the pattern and all the fabric for the quilt top and binding.

I would just like to add that I love this quilt.  It was so satisfying to make, perhaps because with tuition from Selina I discovered the joy of quilt as you go, and at the completion of each step i was so pleased with the results, and the end result was better than i could have hoped for.
Until next time, happy sewing. Janet.

Birdie Pillow

P1020527
Hi there, I’ve just made up a sample for Picture Patchwork & it was sooo easy & fun that I had to let you know about it!!!
We have a beautiful range of fabric just in at Picture Patchwork called Make Do and Mend by Michele D’Amore & seeing as birds seem to be very “in” at the moment & we have the ‘Hello Birdie” pillow pattern in store  by The Red Thread, I thought I would combine the two. (Actually Elaine thought it would be a good idea too!) By the way I have always loved birds so am very happy about birds being popular!
AS I said it was very easy to whip up, a perfect project for someone who is just starting out sewing, or an item that could easily be be sewn by hand or machine,up to you really.
Great little project if you are travelling around in 1 of the many motor homes we get through our towns, sitting out under the annexe wiling away the evening with a glass of red or white in your hand.
The girls at Fresh , (Janet & Zenette) have already made 3 up that are roosting on their shelves so they will know what I am on about. If you want to pop in & check them out they would be only to happy to help you out.
The finished pillow is approx 40cms x 45cms, & a few would look great on shelves or a couch.I sewed my bird all by machine including the blanket stitch around the appliqué pieces. Patterns are available for $14.95, or we could make you a kit for $25.00. The fabric range is $22.00 p/m

The Make DO & Mend range of fabric comes in pretty soft tones of pink, green, burgundy, brown, caramel & blue & in several different designs over the range. This is a lovely range with a touch of old world charm. A couple of the designs have sewing notions on them & would look great on a canvas on a wall in a sewing room!!
Happy sewing, Jen

Picture Patchwork, Latrobe. Tasmania
IN THE BEGINNING

Well, here it is our very first installment of our blog!!!!

This is the blog of the girls from Picture Patchwork & Fresh Fabric, we all LOVE fabric & hope to inspire you all to be like minded.

But first a little background on our stores in Tassie.

Picture Patchwork is situated in the town of Latrobe & was started about 12 years ago by the very young & brave Selina who is totally hooked on fabric & saw a need to let everyone else in on her obsession.

We stock the more traditional fabrics,CIivil War Reproductions,Kaffe Fassett,Aboriginal & Japanese prints along with fillers & homespun ,just to name a few.
She then opened Fresh Fabric about 3 years ago in Deloraine & filled it with lovely fresh, bright & bold designs of Amy Butler, Riley Blake & Valerori Wells along with others.

We will attempt to show you what great things we have been stitching up & some of our beautiful fabric ranges available from our stores, not to mention all the lovely goodies that go with fabric & sewing like kits, patterns & books, just to name a few.

We will highlight all our wonderful designers who contribute & show case their patterns & samples.
